Within the Storm…

Storm approaching on Wingaersheek Beach, Gloucester, MA (August 5th, 2012)

As the clouds
Climb to
The heights of
Heaven
Heavy with
Tears
Moving above
The sun and
Darkening
The sky
I walk into
The depths of
The sea and
I feel
My body
Fall into
The ocean and
Sinking to
The bottom as
I hear
The turning tides of
Change
Cleansing
The toxic
Thoughts that
Lie to
My heart and
Numb
My mind with
Foolish
Relinquishing of
Hope
I surrender to
The universe and
Declare
I am still
Here

Oh no
More lies,
This submerging of
My being
Tells me
I am alive as
I slowly
Drift back to
The surface and
Float on while
Feeling
Wind move across
My skin and
Break
The waves
Around
My being—
I feel
The truth in
This moment
I am reminded
I am okay

Baptized in
The promise of
Today
Moving
Toward
Whatever
Tomorrow
Brings
The clouds
Fall to
The earth to
Meet
My sorrow and
Together
They drown
Getting
Lost in
The letting
Go of
The heavy
Mood

Cloud
And I
Together
We greet
Each other in
Understanding in
The fluidity of
Life—
We become
One

With each
Drop of
Rain
A thousand
Appear
Giving of
Silent
Prayer and
I let
Go to
Hear to
Feel
My sorrow
Our sorrow is
All the same

What
A freedom to
Be in
Sea and
Sky all
Together
We move
On and
I know
I am
Forever
Okay.

I have
The ocean
Even in
The middle of
A storm
I have
My stillness
Within and
Through out
The sky
Cries to
Me and
I sooth
Her with
A poem

We are
Drifting in
Words as
I drift in
The sea

This is
Me
Recalling
The worst and
Overcoming to
Be again
This too has
Passed so
The sun can
Return and
Set for
The sky to
Fall asleep and
Awaken
Tomorrow as
A new day.

We are
The same to
Be in
The moment to
Remember
The earth
Cries
The sky
Cries and
We cry at
The loss—
To love together
This is to be reborn.

This moment
I am in
Love.

Thank you for all these tears.

They wash away my sorrow.
