We’re Not Gods

Travelling among
The embers of
Hope
I kiss
The dream of
Peace
Goodbye

Blackened and
Calloused
My feet walk
A path
Scorched by
The torment of
Madmen

The burnt
Landscape is
Their delusion made
Our reality
Their playground is
Now
Our new Earth.

I walk with
Memory of
A world where
Gardens
Thrived and
Eden exposed
Herself in
Every
Mountain
View and
Emerging
Spring

I walk
Carrying
The weight of
A past
I can’t
Let go of—
It’s all
I have
Moving
Forward.

Forward
Among
The endless
Bodies laid
Waste by
Mankind
Believing
Itself to be
A god.

Our delusion was
We must
Fight

Fight
Until
The end

Well, it’s here
The end.

And
No one is
Fighting

We’re praying
Just to
Exist

We’re
Trying to
Survive

We’re
No
God

We’re
Flesh
Bone
Mortal

Slumbering with
The dead
We hold
The embers of
Hope to
Awaken
Peace
One last
Living time

One last
Sobering
Time
Just to
Survive.

And never to forget.
